Cool! I am mentioned in this Press Democrat article about North Bay app entrepreneurs. My current project is a social game that explores and reveals how we gather information and form opinions about each other, by giving feedback on self portraits.
Stan Hubbs - “Juggernaut”
Also from Crystal, I couldn’t resist posting this track as well. (As far as I know, these are the only tracks from Crystal on Youtube.)
What an amazing psychedelic jam out. So damn pretty, too. The female singer’s voice is heartbreaking, almost country ballad in style. And the song, “Juggernaut,” is a kind of weird apocalyptic ballad, too—a lamentation of modern and godless times. I love the lyrics: “An accident will happen to anyone/ See there’s no such thing as evil/ Well, tell that to the self-centered man/ Make sure the woman understands she sees there’s no such thing as loyal.” Stan’s voice just echoes the lady singer’s in a quiet, holy way. Then the guitar whines and moans and mourns these godless times. You can just get lost in it. Toward the end, the song becomes a cascade of guitar rifts and synths. “Juggernaut”—to me—sounds like sonic crystals—evoking and summarizing the mood and feel of the whole album and Hubbs’ sound. Gorgeous.

Landscaper’s Joirnal: Jute Cloth
This steep embankment posed an erosion problem, and was covered in undesirable ivy. Solution: cut the ivy to the ground, but leave the roots to hold the dirt up; cover everything in cardboard, mulch, and jute cloth, which has to be held in place with staples. This avoids the otherwise huge cost of building a retaining wall. I used picture-in-picture frame layout in Doubleshot Photo for iOS.
